As a certified EiE teacher educator, I am qualified to train teachers in the EiE curriculum. Engineering is Elementary, Eie for Kindergarten and Wee Engineer supports educators and children with curricula and professional development that develop engineering literacy.
The mission of Wee Engineer is to provide fun, appropriate activities for the preschool setting that allow children ages 3-5 to act as engineers and engage in an engineering design process. This program has over 6000 hours of development and tested in over 50 preschool settings across the country.
Wee Engineer and EiE for Kindergarten activities:
- help children think about the designed world in which they live
- positively impact children’s attitudes about their ability to engineer
- engage children in an engineering design process
The Wee Engineer curriculum provides fun, age-appropriate activities for the preschool and Pre-K setting that allows children ages 3-5 to act as engineers and engage in an engineering design process. There are four Wee Engineer challenges; each is divided into three activities in which children use their knowledge of materials to solve problems.
The EiE for Kindergarten is a set of stand-alone engineering units designed specifically for kindergarten students. Each unit is introduced through a storybook about pairs of engineers who are trying to solve a problem. Chapter by chapter, students move through the engineering design process along with the characters. Carefully designed hands-on activities help students learn more about the engineering challenge and solving the problem.
Program Description
In this highly interactive hands-on workshop, educators are guided through an engineering design process to structure the design and improvement of a technology that solves a problem. We explore framework of the units while doing the same fun and engaging engineering challenges that preschoolers and kindergartners are asked to solve.
