In December 2018 I participated in a statewide meeting to share information about early learning in South Dakota. Over 30 entities with an interest in early childhood were in attendance.

During this meeting the SD Association of Education of Young Children shared they received a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation with a focus on early childhood education in South Dakota. I was invited to be a member of the Early Childhood Care and Education Stakeholder Group which focused on meeting the goals of the grant. As a member of the Data Sub-Committee, we focused on identifying the available early childhood data and the data that is lacking. A comprehensive document was created. We continue to meet to further develop and carry out the strategic plan of fulfilling its vision: That all children have access to quality early learning experiences and environments to create a solid foundation for lifelong success.
